Mr Andrew J. B. Cremer, MA (Oxon), PGCE: Qualified Teacher in Private Practice

The most important thing is the teacher. Mr Cremer is highly qualified, he has broad knowledge, and was extremely well-prepared for his class. Mr Cremer is a caring and easy-going teacher. Mr Cremer is not only an excellent teacher, but also he impressed me as a knowledgeable, responsible, strict but impartial teacher. Apart from teaching German itself, he also taught the right way to learn it. He has a great sense of humour that reduces barriers, and lightens the atmosphere, especially in a difficult topic in the class. He has the ability to carry his students far and gain more respect.

My impression of Mr Andrew Cremer on my first contact with the office is that his customer service ability is excellent because he listens and advises on what the better option is. I would recommend AJB Language Tuition any day, anytime and anywhere for their prompt service. Mr Aruviereh, Essex

I am Andrew J. B. Cremer, a qualified secondary-school teacher in Modern Languages (French and German). After studying French, German and English at Bancroft's School in Woodford Green, Essex - where I gained three 'A's at A-Level and a 'Merit' in S-Level (Scholarship-Level) German - I proceeded to read Modern Languages at University College, Oxford, where I graduated with a 2:1. My Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) was taken at King's College, London. Once I had qualified, I taught French and German from Year 7 to A-level at the Robert Clack School in Essex.

After some years I decided to take a break from teaching, and worked as a tax consultant for international accountancy firm KPMG. During this time I was seconded to Switzerland, and worked as the leading French and German translator on the Holocaust victims' forensic bank account project.
In addition to my secondment to Switzerland, I have lived and worked in both France and Germany for several months at a time.
After leaving tax consultancy I embarked upon the translation of a French work of literature - which is nearly ready for publication. In early 2014 I decided to return to teaching, but this time on a private, one-to-one basis.
Retraining for Teaching and For Primary/Preparatory School-aged Pupils
Since returning to teaching in 2014 I have completed the comprehensive two-week Return to Teaching Course offered by TimePlan Education Group Ltd. The courses covered include Early Years Foundation Stage, English & Literacy in the Primary Phase, English Education System & Curriculum, and Child Protection. During the fortnight, three observation sessions were carried out at primary schools in the London Borough of Newham. This additional training in the primary phase has helped equip me to teach younger pupils effectively.
I have also undertaken a number of observations at preparatory and public schools such as Bryanston, Christ's Hospital, Godstowe, Norwich, Radley College, Swanbourne House and my alma mater, Bancroft's (Preparatory and Senior Schools). My observations have served to acquaint me both with current modes of teaching and with the academic standard currently required of language students in the UK's top schools. In addition to my observations, I have also taught classes at Forest Preparatory School, London and Swanbourne House.

I therefore offer French and German lessons to children and young people from Key Stage 1 (beginner) to A-Level (Key Stage 5); to aspiring university entrants; to undergraduates needing extra assistance with their language work; to those in further education; and to adults who are committed to improving their language skills. I also offer coaching in French for the 13+ Common Entrance exam, which is the examination pupils must take if they are applying to schools such as those mentioned above and below.
I have developed, and delivered regularly, one-to-one intensive French and German courses for pupils from Eton College and the Cheltenham Ladies' College. |
I offer English as a Second Language (ESOL) lessons to both children and adults who are newly arrived in the UK, and Elocution and Accent-reduction lessons for those who wish to improve their command of spoken English.
Having recently passed the DELE Level A2 Spanish exam at the Instituto Cervantes in London, I am also able to offer Spanish lessons from beginner to Key Stage 3. Please visit the French, German, & Spanish page to find out more.
Finally, I am also an 11+ coach, offering tuition in all four streams of the 11+ exam: English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal reasoning. My entrance exam coaching extends to the preparatory schools' 6+ and 7+ exams, as well as to the 13+ exam mentioned above.

Former and Current Clients
In the years 2014-15, I gave French and German lessons to pupils from Eton College, The Cheltenham Ladies' College and St. Paul's Girls' School. I also taught two francophone (French-speaking) young brothers preparing to enter a francophone school in west Africa, and a young five-year-old girl (watch the lesson video here). I gave 13+ French coaching to a pupil from Chelmsford aspiring to attend St. Swithun's School in Winchester, and 11+ coaching to several pupils. One successful pupil passed the entrance exams for Bancroft's, Forest and Chigwell Schools, and was commended by two of the schools for his English skills. Other pupils included a French GCSE candidate at the American School in London; a home-schooled A-Level German candidate; a lady from Lithuania requiring English lessons (watch the lesson video here); two Year 4 11+ pupils who attended a preparatory school in Kingston-upon-Thames; and a gentleman from Rainham requiring Elocution lessons.
In 2016, I had an exciting cohort of 11+ candidates and an ESOL adult pupil in east Kent, who made excellent progress during her six months of thrice-weekly lessons, in addition to some language and elocution pupils.
